Himber ring, anyone?

Hello... I am looking to obtain an Himber ring in wedding bang style; ideally, the one produced by Himber originally, or the Gerry McCambridge model. (Both of these models are lager than the Chinese know-offs.)

If you are willing to part with yours, drop me a note...

Cards to eyeglasses

Years ago, I saw someone do a parlor/close-up effect in which the performer was "blindfolded" by the expedient of dropping cards behind the performer eyeglasses lenses; the cards selected, eventually, where found missing from the deck and the makeshift blindfold materials appeared to be th...

Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas

The book grew on me. It really is all about performing. If you consider going all the way in trying to master it, consider a stay stack. If you can faro, you will get there pretty quickly. If you cannot faro, look up Harry Lorayne's Unfaro faro from Quantum leaps. 4 shuffles from a modified full dec...

As one of the select few who thought that David looked quite cool, dashing and spiffy in the red velvet jacket, I felt slighted by the article. But I'll get over it.

Regardless of what David thinks, he looks great in velvet.

Re: Martin Nash DVDs

Dustin, did the delivery of the material evolve, over time? I have the Bob Read material, and there is a definite progression in the Knife-through-coat sequence, for exemple. Did Mr Nash's material evolve in the same fashion?

Re: Slydini - Worst trick ever?

I have seen Romaine do Slydini's material several times over the years and can attest to the impact of the helicopter card - and the other material. The timing fooled you again and again once he got the ball rolling, regardless whether you knew the method of not. Romaine made the timing 'work'. . Ho...

Looking foward to it; but I do hope that the approach is a little more rigourous than what was in the Britland tome.

I remember, a few years back, someone marketing a coin tru table routine - with gloves. It made for a pretty easy palm. The kicker was that the coin would go right through the glove.

That is a good lead, gregg.
All that stuff is reminescent of Ross Bertram's stuff and early Jay Sankey coin material. I thouroughly enjoyed the article.

Whether they're working with dragon-painted tubes; coins, cards, and a close-up mat; or the latest $100 billet peek..it doesn't matter...it's always the same process: find the material that fits you, get comfortable in your own skin, connect with the audience, master your craft... Re: Uri

I think it signals the shape of things to come. Certainly, the influential magicians of the past 10 years (and I mean in terms of public impact - Derren Brown, Chris Angel, David Blaine, Cyril - stars of youtube and of that other small screen, the telly) have already played it mentalist-style. And m...

Re: Uri

I thought that one of the really interesting points raised in the article was not from Mr Geller, but by Richard Kaufman. "Most of the magicians I know no longer do magic for laymen: they've all switched to mentalism" That may very well be one of the most important points raised in the art...

Wired Magazine is having a magic contest...!

A lot of people claim that the future of magic is not Chris Angel... or Derren Brown... or that kid at the local club. We all have a take on what magic is not. But what will magic be like tomorrow? Now here is a chance to air your own vision, rather than being an armchair critic. Got to: http://www....

Re: Garcia Flys Under Radar!!

I'd like to thank whoever started this thread. Not only is it an amazing trick, but the issue itself is worth its weight in gold. The Johnny Thompson interview kept me riveted. It was a reminder of what was for me a landmark book. If Vernon and Thompson were turned on to magic by Erdnase, it was Hyl...

Re: The Unreal Works

That review is very fair. Good DVD, nicely produced, a fair bit of lateral thinking involded in the created effects. No easy stuff, but material that is accessible if you are diligent.
