Re: Let this be a lesson to us all...

I don't understand why people never read any of the posted comments underneath a video.

They explain all.

That's an old video.

Sometimes, the comments posted are more entertaining than whatever the video was!

Re: Karl Fulves' library

Gosh, unless the book has been printed in two or three colors, normally PMS colors, you can look under a magnifying glass and look for dots in the signature. That's a dead giveaway for a printed signature. Solid ink colors as in a PMS color will not show dots due to the fact they are mixed but solid...

If we were still living in Studio City, I'd be there. That hotel was just walking distance up Vineland where I lived.

Re: 30 min Set, # of effects?

Regarding the beginning, middle and end... yes, I expect any effect to have that, let alone an actual act. I just wondered if anybody actually gave the #of effects performed a thought. When I auditioned for my Magic Castle membership in 2003, I threaded the idea of my imagination amongst three diffe...

30 min Set, # of effects?

Hello to everyone- I'm wondering what the current thoughts are on how many effects should or shouldn't be offered in a close-up set of around 30 minutes. Obviously, all the 'yada yada' about presentation, a master could entertain with only one, two good mentalism presentations could take up a half o...

Re: ILLOGICAL DOUBLE LIFT NOTE

Wow. Seeing the dates of the correspondance were so much later than the actual development cycles as well as publishing dates, it leads me to wonder about an opinion I heard from someone. In fairness to him, I won't mention his name, but as he was an early member of the Magic Castle and up to a poin...

Joe Porpers new site

He was at R Paul Wilsons lecture yesterday at the Castle and has some new props coming out that are remarkable. His new magic wand of snake wood is gorgeous and his improvment on a rattler is amazing. His new site is : www.porperoriginals.com Wilson asked for a round of applause for his return and i...

Re: How would your ideal ebook look like?

The bookplate notion is a little tricky for cross-platform files, but not if they are distributed on a cd. However, that really kills the idea of the portability of an e-book. That being said, everything else you mentioned, adding notes/changing text (although you might lose info) and adding links a...

Good point. However, you have to subcribe to the magazine to get those comments or find it in a store of which are specialized so laymen aren't as likely to stumble upon them. Also, burying exposer in and amongst long reviews provides some cover as well- as many of those who would reveal secrets wou...

holy toledo. I'm pretty fresh in this game, but it doesn't take a phd or even highschool diploma to see that Mr. Nagler sure is mad! You guys, Acrobat 5 has this capability via the Catalog and Index features and Im willing to bet possibly 4 had this. The key is that the pdf documents have to be created correctly...from text, not from graphic files. Saving a screenshot or photo as a PDF from say, Photoshop will not allow indexing ...

Sorry, I just got the December issue of Genii so this may be late. I'm surprised to find two totally opposite views of the same product, Stealing Pips The Card Magic of Oz. David Oliver thought pretty well of the product while Michael Close didn't think much of it at all. Michael Close gave a pretty...

Re: When Does “Capitalist” Equal “Artistic Sell-Out”?

This may be a little off topic as it responds to the accusation of Picasso being a rip-off artist. But as that was brought up in this post I feel I can relate the matter back to magic. Besides the typical response such as, double-standard, practice what you preach, two-mouthed and the such, how can ...

another way is to use two hands which can enhance the effect as well though technically, youre doing the same move. Begin with gimmick knife in left hand holding it between the tips of your left second finger and your left thumb on the ends of the knife. (as if you were going to spring cards. Approa...

It's too bad that jealously, anger, hurt, rejection and probably flat out embarassment can give a man such a purpose. I go on record for saying this, directly and intentionally to the creators of that site (who will probably review this thread): You're unbelievably naive and stupid to think that any...

lo and behold, a new shop The Magic Shop has opened in Opry Mills mall. Just today. They are going to be there through January to test the waters. Being a guitarist for 20 years, I know the importance of practicing something 'correctly' slowly so he fingers remember/learn the right thing. Does this go for sleights as well? Hi there-
You're probably looking for a method explanation, but I know the effect is available from Penguin Magic.

That's a cool trick. I'm sure many have done that before, but I've only seen Lance and David Blaine perform the trick.

Good luck

From that point of view, I have certain notions and the like about opening a magic store. But I'd like to ask a...
