Re: Malini Egg Bag

I must agree with Martin (and the others on the first page of this thread) about Lynetta's egg bags. They are in a class of their own. I was urged to perform the egg bag by Denny years ago and have used the $30 Malini ever since. After switching to Lynetta's bag recently, I must say, there is a worl...

Re: Idea for presentation

Pete, That's a great presentation. I love ideas like this. I had a presentation a few years ago (2000-2001) that I won a couple awards with (at the MAES convention and Split Rock Spectacular) doing a Pavel Walking knot routine with tin cans on the ends of the ropes. When the rope was 'cut,' the musi...

Re: Aronson Stack

It's a toss! I still like doing a variation from Workers where the spectator finds a card that's named (done under a presentation where the sectator is one of the world's top card cheats). However, I've been playing around with a few of Darwin's routines from Scams. Can't wait to dig into Mneumonica...

Re: Learning video

Congratulations on your new production! Welcome to the wonderful world of video production! I hope you have a great experience with it and learn as much as you can. You sound like you've got the drive! Working with Avid will be a great experience, too! You are going to be using THE industry standard...

Re: unusual cups

Bill, You are correct, they look like they were designed for drinking. I think you'll agree, though, that that's the beauty of them, that they weren't designed for magic, BUT drinking. They just have a great look. Tommy Wonder has two small cups and a larger cup. His large cup didn't nest with the o...

Re: unusual cups

Pepka, Hey! How's it been? It's been a long time. Are you going to be at the MAES convention? If so, we'll have to get together then. I had some trouble with the link you gave. I did find the cups (which look stunning!) Just for anyone else who might have a hard time, I've included a link below: <!-...

Re: Learning video

First off, good luck with the local public-access show! I've never had that chance and I wish you the best! Regarding that "essential hurdle," I'm going to make a few assumptions to make this easier. I'll assume you have access to the equipment (sounds like you're well on your way). If you...

Re: Learning video

Gensheimer is correct in that having access to the equipment doesn't always translate into experience. That said, I think it can only help for you to look into learning what you can from video professionals. Photography and videography fall into simlar fields in that understanding colors and framing...

Re: Tricks we can no longer perform

I'll have to disagree with the topic as well. I've had many a conversations with a good friend and fellow pro. He has a huge problem with exposure and even has a problem with the local magic shop selling thumb tips and invisible decks (when we got down to it, it's because he's performing both of the...

Re: CUPS EXPERTS

I may be a bit late joining in the thread but... I recently picked up a set of the brass Magic Makers cups and I actually like them. I agree with Pepka about the inside of the copper cups. Crap in my opinion. However, the brass are nice. I don't think I'll use these too much though. I have two sets ...

Re: Robert Houdin Books

I'm not sure what you mean by a "collector" book. If you mean is it a book that book collector's and magic collector's would want on their shelf? Yes, this is a hot one. It is also a very interesting and very well produced book for the average reader. The quality of the book is wonderful, ...

Re: Magic Squares (presentation etc.)

DonB, I've loved Magic Squares ever since I could remember. Probably explains the Aerospace Engineering path I took. Anyway, I have been doing magic squares for closeup gigs for the longest time and wanted to "bump" it up to stage. (I typically do this with certain effects I am learning wh...

Mr. Mitchell brings up a point about this month's issue. He said: >"Where are the pictures." The information presented to me in "Genii" form, will take a while to digest... To me, this is what makes Genii my favorite periodical in magic. Of the two "main" periodicals ou...

Excellent point about attracting the right type of people to your site. In fact, trying to trick people to your site by using every meta tag possible or using certain keywords will actually hurt you in the long run. Allow me explain. Many of the top portals/search engines including yahoo keep track ...

Re: Bulletproof tricks

I'm surprised I haven't seen one trick mentioned. For the last several years I have been performing variations of effects with the Aronson. I loved the reactions. Then, just for fun, I went 'back to basics' the other week with an Invisible Deck. I hate to admit it, but that one trick leaves EVERYONE...
