Re: The Trick with the Strongest Reaction from Laymen

Does anyone else remember a sponge ball routine called "Clones"? It began with a clever production of the "clone" (orange sponge ball with eyes and red nose) from an eye dropper. It was goofy, but at least the theme of clones made sense with the big mutliball production at the e...

Many years ago at Fechter's, I saw John Carney perform an elegant routine with coins and a transparent silk. I don't recall if it was his routine. If it was his routine, I don't know if he ever published it.

John, can you refresh my foggy memory?

They wheeled me out of the suite and parked me in a hallway. They found the needed staff and commenced surgery at about 9:45. It went very well, w...

Patient care of the highest caliber! I was admitted to the hospital at 6:30 am. By 7:00 I was on a gurney, wearing a laughable gown, hideous socks and my hospital ID bracelet. I awaited my IV. During Shin Lim's second performance on Fool Us, some unintended magic occurs. His shirt sleeves magically move up and down his arm. This indicates that Shin's performance was shot at least twice and then edited together for broadcast. That suggests that something went wrong during the first take, n...

Erdnasephile,

Their realization that they were being played against each other by Vernon was a thought. It was intellectual.

Their rivalry for Vernon's approval was emotional.

It’s exquisite, hyperglycemic eye candy! My hero Del Ray would have loved the routine. But, as Richard stated, it’s too perfect. In the final, impossibly visual sequences, because Will’s hands aren’t in contact with the coins, the viewer is forced to eliminate sleight of hand as an explanation. That...

Fred,

Have you tried a cheap, non-permanent marker? If you structure your handling to ensure that neither you nor your participant touch the signature, it will remain "wet" during your performance. Afterward, simply wipe the ink off of the gimmick.
