Re: Join Our New Facebook Group Devoted to Greater Magic

I don't care if companies are tracking me. They show me ads for which I have an interest, as opposed to ads for crap that doesn't interest me. I admit I love this as well. Also am really enjoying your updates on the Facebook group. I wish I had something of value to contribute but so far have staye...

Re: "New" Darwin Ortiz release

Darwin's style is niche. In other words, he is, primarily, a demonstrator/narrator of card control and techniques used (real or fictitious) by “crooked gamblers.” He is a supremely skilled card mechanic and his repertoire and presentations are compatible with his rather offhand and dry persona. Lik...

Well, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing him work live. Or even to meet him. But after watching this a second time today I was struck by a particular quality of his performances. He never appeared rush or anything but calm as he went through various routines. I thought it was a real testament to h...

"New" Darwin Ortiz release

Two hours of footage taken back in 94 of Darwin Ortiz performing. Available from Jason Ladanye's web site. Picked it up last night. And watched it as well. If you are a Darwin Ortiz fan you will want this for sure. A couple thoughts: 1. The performing style of Darwin is worth studying here. His hand...

Re: Magic in the Magic Kingdom (Anaheim, CA); 8-2022

I would imagine that traffic flow is very closely monitored throughout the whole park. It's been 15 years since I have been to Disneyland but if memory serves me right having a pitchman outside there could create a nightmare. The better the pitchman the greater the nightmare. Not unlike issues that ...

Saw the show live in NY and was stunned. Not sure if watching a movie/film of the same show will ruin that memory for me. (I wanted to attend the show for like 7 days in a row.) I've read great books in the past that I felt were "ruined" by the movie adaptation. Wondering if this will be a...

This book has been a harsh and humbling experience so far. There were small details that I knew were a little off. A break showing when it shouldn't or the placing of slugs in my riffling stacking procedure breaking up the smooth flow of the riffle itself. Having Mr. Forte call them out in print fee...

Good stuff - gave me some tools to reexamine some effects I have been doing for a couple decades and maybe solve some problems I run into. My goal is not to just fool someone in the moment but to have them still stumped a year later. I can see these strategies helping with accomplishing that goal.

Denny is a somewhat bitter guy. If you went into his store in Baltimore (not the current one, but the one before) it was filled with guys smoking. The fact that it's a violation of the law aside, it made the place and anything you purchased in it stink. I stopped going to the store because of that-...

I love the approach to Cannibal Cards (which was the only effect that had sound issues in the original disc) and hope to do it justice when I perform it for the first time.
