Re: 30 min Set, # of effects?
He asked me if I wanted to see a card trick. I said, "No." He did five. Number of tricks is wrong question. Number of emotional moments is more important. Do they laugh, or go awwwww, or sigh, or say wow, or at least pay close attention? Better get a couple of those in per minute...

Re: NEW TO THIS BUT TRYING CLOSE UP MAGIC
I have been doing color changing knives for 48 years (time flies when you are having fun). One thing I have found is that the illusion an be very very powerful. A thousand times, some spectator has said "The sides are different colors!" I say "No they aren't, look..." I show them...

A dry erase marker might work, and smear, and be erasable.
A "permanent" marker can be dissolved with the right solvent. Maybe acetone. An office supply will have cleaner to remove permanent marker from a whiteboard, that might work.

Re: Memorized deck systems
I thought I would never put in the work to learn a complete stack, but I did. Turns out to be a lot easier than you might think. Tamariz's method works, and it would work just fine for any stack. So, the real question is which stack to learn? My advice is to look at the routines that can only be don...

Re: Dental Dam Coin Penetration
I tried to think of some kind of device that could be used to quickly reset, but never really had any good ideas.
Also, though the glass has advantages, you can do it with spectators holding the corners of the rubber sheet.

Re: Where do i go from here?
it seems to me that a beginner needs a mentor. Find one. There is a local magic club near you. Find it and attend the meetings. If you were interested in, say, the Cello, you would hire a teacher. Why not hire a Magic teacher? For may people, their hobby is learning new cool magic stuff and hanging ...

Re: Memorized deck systems
i never thought I would do the work necessary to memorize a deck, but last week I said, what the hell. I used the Juan Tamariz method (and his stack, too, but the memorization method is the cool part). It might seem stupid. Too bad, do it just the way it is described. After about 6 hours, I have it ...

Lee Sailer still lives in Warrenton VA, where he appears regularly in the local phone book. He is in fact the same Lee Sailer that published some articles at Coin Purse when it first started out, and he is in fact the same Lee Sailer that Joe Pecore already knows, so if Joe wants to contact him, he ...
