Re: NY Times Review of Zoom Magic Shows

I was one of the lucky ones that scored a ticket today. The Geffen Playhouse website was clearly swamped when tickets for Helder's show went on sale. I had multiple devices and browsers open, and they were all crawling at a snail's pace. Several times I would land a ticket but would then get an aggr...

Re: Magic Castle Happenings – The Good Stuff (October 2018)

Thank you, Dustin. It makes sense that the Castle website no longer displays the upcoming schedules. Richard: Thank you for the reminder, I often forget that the schedules are in Genii, too. And while I'm at it, I also really like the "Knights at The Magic Castle" reports. I always love to...

Re: Magic Castle Happenings – The Good Stuff (October 2018)

Hi Dustin, I really appreciate your updates. As a non-member of the Magic Castle, I rely on your updates to know who will be performing at the Castle in the coming weeks. (I used to check the "Now Appearing" part of the Castle website, but I noticed months ago that they stopped listing the...

Re: USPS The Art of Magic Stamps & More

Thank you for your replies, Richard and Doug. I opted to buy a bunch of stamps, most of them being the lenticulars. For the price (same as any other stamp), it's a bargain for the coolness factor. Couldn't resist picking up some John Lennon and Janis Joplin stamps, too. If we still paid our bills th...

Re: USPS The Art of Magic Stamps & More

Just wanted to confirm: Are the lenticular souvenirs actual stamps that can be used as postage? I've seen them referred to as "stamps," and they're evidently self-adhesive, so I have to think they are. Sorry for the silly question, but I've been burned by the USPS before. About 8 years ago...

Re: Looking for magic quotes

"All magic is 'Here’s a quarter, now it’s gone. You’re a jerk. Now it’s back. You’re an idiot. Show’s over.'" Jerry Seinfeld My favorite passage from JURASSIC PARK doesn't mention magic, but I can't help but think about magic whenever I read it. It'’s the part of the story where Malcolm, t...

Tommy Wonder does talk about faux failures on his VISIONS OF WONDER DVD during the explanation of "The Tamed Card."

Re: FLASH CONTEST: Free Magic-Con Dan and Dave Decks for YOU!

I think this is a case of improper usage becoming so prevalent that it becomes accepted. I noticed this several years ago, starting paying attention, and heard more people using, "could care less" rather than the correct "couldn't care less." It's like that so-called word "i...

Re: Mind Stunts: Tossed Out Rubik's Cube

Thanks, Mr. Acer, that makes sense! Looking back, there were two parts that I tripped over: My first hang-up was the sentence, "Because of our secret preparation, we know for sure that the colors they saw on the cube are white, red, and green." I had interpreted this incorrectly as "w...

Mind Stunts: Tossed Out Rubik's Cube

I'm intrigued by Patrik Kuffs' "Tossed Out Rubik's Cube" in the January 2011 issue of Genii. But I must be missing something. Can't a spectator pick two force colors and mess things up?

Re: Lance Burton To Close Vegas Show

Thanks for the reminder, Dodd. It's been so long since I've called anywhere to order something, that option never entered my mind! (A bit like being fooled by a magician-fooler trick?)

BTW, tickets to the September shows are finally on sale.

Thanks,

Ross

Re: Lance Burton To Close Vegas Show

I'd like to see Lance's last show in September but the link to Ticketmaster from his website currently only shows tickets available through August. Anyone know if these haven't gone on sale yet, or is there some other way to get tickets?

Thanks,

Ross

Magic Castle: We Spark Event 7-13-09?

Anyone know what performers, in addition to the week's regularly scheduled magicians, are performing at the We Spark charity event at the Magic Castle on July 13th? I couldn't find any info on the Castle's website, and the We Spark website only mentions "20 Magicians." <!-- m --><a class="...

Re: Celebracabra

C. Thomas Howell was supposed to perform at the Castle this week but got replaced. Anyone know what happened, and if there are plans to reschedule? I really wanted to see his act.

Thanks,

Ross
