Here is Tom Baxter discussing David Alexander's method on The Magic Cafe: I should also mention that David Alexander, who posts here, has an extraordinary version of his own for 51 Faces North. I've seen it in action, and the odd thing about David's unpublished variation is that the more that one kn...

One of my favourite magician foolers is a version of the Open Prediction that makes clever use of a stooge.

Paul Gordon gave it away for free over here:

It certainly IS possible to meet all 18 of Stewart James' conditions. Max Maven has such a method. He come up with it whilst jet lagged in a hotel room in Japan. If I remember correctly. He has not published it. But he did demonstrate it for Allan Slaight. This is all detailed in The James File. App...

Yeah - this is a move to be done with the deck placed horizontally on the table. Sorry for not making that clear originally. The bevel is about half an inch. I just looked it up again in the magazine. The idea is that four fingers press down on top of the deck as the thumb goes beneath the deck. Gre...

Improve Your Card Magic Using This 1 Weird Trick!

Here is a great idea from an old issue of Precursor magazine. Don't have the reference to hand but I can dig it out if need be. Ever have trouble picking up a deck of cards from a polished table? Most people either slide it off the table (inelegant) or pick up the deck and then gather up the few tha...

Re: Allan Slaight Chair for the Conjuring Arts

For me Penn & Teller is about as good as it gets in magic. But my sense with P&T is they aspire to be entertainers rather than artists. Penn once said that art is easy. What is hard is entertainment. If you are playing to smart people - you have to work very hard when it comes to being enter...

Just found a trick called 'My Answer' by Stewart James on page 5 of the October, 1988 issue of Precursor magazine. This is issue 21 and was a tribute issue to Howard P. Lyons.
