Re: Magic Books 2017

It feels like it has been a quiet year for books. The highlight of my year has been getting JAMM (http://www.thejerx.com) in my inbox each month. As for books - the stand out one for me is Bob Farmer's The Bammo Tarotdiction Toolbox. I took awhile before ordering it. And that worked out well for me ...

Re: Fascinating Concepts

I have often heard magicians say that you should look to things outside magic for inspiration. That is something I had a problem putting into action. It was hard for me to picture how you could translate something you loved in a movie or comedy sketch into a magic trick. Happily - Andy had a great p...

Re: Fascinating Concepts

Cheers, Bob. I am still working my way through that book. I got distracted by the other book you put out - The Bammo Tarotdiction. I am a bit obsessed with that book at the moment. Really fascinating concepts. My favourite trick in that book is the one where you have a deck shuffled by the spectator...

Fun idea for a thread. This is definitely something that I most associate with Andy's work. Although creativity is a strange thing. I often feel you can lose interest in an idea after sharing it. Rather than trying to keep it "under wraps" for awhile in order to try and come up with someth...

I have both! :-)

I think I saw a sentence where Paul Swinford wrote he had redesigned the cards a little for the Cyberdeck release. But I haven't studied that carefully yet.

I love the ingenuity of this deck. I can't wait to make use of them in some novel magic tricks. It seems to me that these cards essentially allow you to do faro shuffle tricks without the need for any sleight of hand. Here is a fun article on this, alas dead, technology: http://kk.org/thetechnium/on...

That is great news. Of course - it all depends on enough people signing up for another year! I am confident it will be achieved again this time round. But I am always nervous. Re: The Jerx Year Two

Most magicians perform for one of three reasons. 1) They are getting paid. 2) They want attention. 3) They want feedback on a trick they created or have just learned. As a result - most performances of magic are by people using magic for the wrong reason (they want attention) or because they are cha...

Hey Bob - Andy has a fun presentation for the 10 Card Deal in the post above! ----------------- Great post as always from Andy. I hate hoarding stuff. And one of the downsides of magic is you do end up accumulating a lot of stuff. I find ebooks are quite useful now. You can get rid of all your magic magazines and know you can still track down stuff in the archives if need be. Very useful. And it gives you the best of both wo...

I have really enjoyed JAMM over the past few months. But the latest issue (JAMM No. 6 - July) is very special. Probably the two strongest tricks I have ever read in magic.
