Hey guys! I wanted to let you know about a website that Luke Dancy, Josh Norris, and myself recently created. Re: History of Pick-a-Card tricks
Hey guys! Two years have passed since this and I'm glad to say that the routine that I use this in connection to is working out great.
One question: Does anyone know the origin of the phrase "pick a card any card"?
Thanks!

Re: Quantum Mechanics by Irving Quant
Well, I took a read again at Earl Nelson's Variations, where Tony published the move in later on, and it's the same concept. The finger and handling is different as I added a front-tilt to it to make it still look as if they are in different parts. But in any case, I've been trying to figure out how...

Yes, I forgot to add that. I spoke to Tony about this already. I'm trying to find a way to be able to credit him for it (kind of hard to do once the DVD is finished...). The handling are different, but the concept is the same.

Have you ever tried a Cassandra Deck? this is not a so obvious deck as a regular tossed deck and if you follow the usual "calling of the cards" as done with a tossed deck, you can use it efficiently.

Re: If you buy only one magazine this month ...
In my opinion, Tom's presentation is better than Vernon's for another reason than what he states. Tom's version is a lot more direct. Why would you go explaining what the audience already can figure out? What is so difficult to understand in "look at one of them" that requires further expl...

Re: Composing a show
Jonathan, you don't have to know music to be able to appreciate music. I am sure that you have heard a piano before. So when the wrong key is hit, you should be able to tell that the melody got a bad step on it because of that bad key. This goes with shows as well. A bad trick, not chosen because it...

Tom, I can't help to notice that this trick fits perfectly with you being a psycho therapist. Do you use your psychology background to sort of lay a foundation for this trick as well as your interest in cards? (which is in the presentation already)

Composing a show
That's right, I call it "composing" instead of writing. I believe a show should flow, feel, and have all the elements of a beautiful melody of Chopin, the grace in change as in Vivaldi's Four Seasons, or the simple movement of a few notes in Beethoven's pieces. Because after all, without th...

hmm...seems like a mixture of pressure, high humidity (and apparently very dry air), and heat cause the warping. From experience I know that if you leave a deck in the car, when it is hot, the deck will start to pop a lot. But it throws me off now that it happened in the theater where the air conditioning was there. Any of you guys do card work in a theater or have had this happened during a show?

the "pop" in decks
What makes a deck "pop"? This is when you press the center of the deck and it bevels and then returns to it's shape making a popping sound. Last Friday I had a problem while performing on a theater. I've never had that problem before, and I thought that the reason why decks do that is beca...

Rene Lavand is my favorite of course.
I'm not sure if he is considered a coin guy or not, but I like the way Armando Lucero handles the cards. Simple, smooth, and magical. No counting around, no nothing. It just happens, just like Rene's magic.

If there are any questions in regards to finding a mentor, guidance, please ask. I might not know the answer, but I will be able to point you to the people that do.
