Re: TAOM Dallas - Aug 30 - Sept 2 News

"Allen Okawa, will be making his first US Convention appearance." Mr. Okawa gave a wonderful lecture at the Golden Gate Gathering (near San Francisco, CA, USA) several years ago. I'm sure everyone will enjoy his "second" US Convention appearance (if his San Francisco Bay Area app...

Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas

I guess we San Franciscans are now considered "rural". Last time there was a farm here was 150 years ago, thus one of our neighborhoods is called Cow Hollow. Your printer needs to update his maps, Richard. I'll wander out to the pasture again tomorrow - perhaps it got dropped in a cow pie ...

I know. You've got to love the USPS. In the last two months I've sent packages to my parents via "media mail" and they've miraculously arrived, across the country, in 3 days. Some Postal Inspector is probably enjoying my copy of the Berglas book.

Re: Roberto Giobbi’s Column “On Practicing Magic”

Jon, if we continue with our example of classical music for a moment, our audience is expected to wait until the end of an entire composition before exhibiting their pleasure or displeasure with your performance. So, you can be performing continuously for 20 minutes or more (perhaps multiple movemen...

Jon, if I understand your question correctly, in my own experience the two do not equate. Roberto Giobbi’s Column “On Practicing Magic”

I love it! When I was in music school, Robert Schumanns Album for the Young was one of the books that we had to utilize as part of our early piano studies (if your instrument was not piano, you were required to study piano for two years), and I remember reading Schumanns text. A couple of thoughts I...

Jonathan, I believe there are some other magicians with Jamy's stature performing in very stylish and classy dress (w/o their sleeves rolled up). I would start there and ask them how they get away with it. They might say that they solve that particular problem the same way they prove there are no st...

First impressions are everything - so I'm told. I always feel as if it's just me, when I think what a horrible look it is to come out with a suit jacket on, with the sleeves rolled up. You might as well come out with a suit with short sleeves - it is the same look. And, maybe it's just me again, but...

If you enjoy reading The Gen, how could you possibly get through 9,000 pages worth of material in one month, not alone one-year, or five years? You must mean you don't like reading them and are getting rid of them for that reason. I'm confused - is there something wrong with the discs?
