Re: World Famous Austin Magic Auction
I, along with about 20 members of the Austin S.A.M. attended a tagging party last night to prepare items for the Austin Magic Auction. WOW!!! There's great stuff this year! (even a Mister Mysto set #1 in a glass case) and plenty of stuff from Richard Garriot. Last year saw Banachek, Trixie Bond, Sco...

My wife and I saw David's show last night. I have seen DC live 5 times. Twice in the 80's, once in the 90's and 2 years ago in Austin. The show was the same as 2 years ago minus 'PORTAL' and plus 'THE FAN'. There has been a purposeful, presentational change over the last few years, (since David Blai...

Re: CRISS ANGEL ONCE IN A LIFETIME DEAL - BETTER JUMP ON IT!
There is a way to say "F You" to an audience. The AMAZING JONATHAN does it nightly, but he has learned over 1000's of shows and many years how to fit that moment into his character. When A.J. does it his crowd loves it and roars. When Criss does it, he thinks he can roll like his good frie...

I am hoping to see David C. in Waco on Feb. 24. I last saw the show in Austin two years ago. Does anybody have info on what effects he will do? Will the show be significanly different this time around? Any info would be great.

Trixie Bond is moving
I just heard that the busiest children's magician, Trixie Bond, will be moving to Austin TX.
Houston's loss is our gain!
Also I believe that Lawrence Haas is moving to our fair state.
Keep sending your best magi to Texas.....we got plenty of room!
Grace and Peace.

You wonderful people may not think that there is a 'FREE LUNCH' out there, but I heard that today Brad Henderson was eating at The Salt Lick BBQ, he did a few card effects, a crowd gathered, he fooled the socks off of them, and his lunch ended up being gratis, as well as his whole party! Off topic.....

Re: Mentalism at school assemblies
Great Thread! I recently did a mentalism show for Jr. High and High schoolage kids at a church camp. I knew going in that there would be a few adults, (teachers, counselors) at the performance and so as I looked over my set list of effects, I noted which ones could benefit from having a mature volun...

Out of his league?!!!
It was a TEEN AWARD! I didn't expect Slydini!
I enjoyed the whole show but the kids' routine and delivery had me laughing out loud. The Amazing Johnathan was phoning it in. The kid was more entertaining than half of the performers.

He is obviously a comedian and the audience found his parody of a magic act hilarious! Thus....SUCCESS!!!

Maybe on Oct. 31st the whole show changes into something brilliant and unexpected.

Unfortunately this is the brave new world we live in...instant, worldwide exposure. I'm not sure what we can do about it other than work on our presentations, get as creative as we can, and be entertaining.

The MyNetwork also airs on various local affiliates. It will be on our (Temple TX) FOX station tonight but because of the debate it will air at a later time. (11:30 pm.) From reading the press release on the series they say they will expose over 120 effects over the run of the show including "F...

I hope that "Close-Up" is not a major part of CA's new show. I love "Close-Up" when it is close up. But as part of a multi-million dollar massive Cirque spectacular, I expect something larger than life like KA, O, or Mysterie. I'm sure that Criss would love to be in our fraternit...

Patrick, I think you're on to something concerning American audiences wanting Asian magicians to do traditional Asian magic with all the trimmings and trappings. One older example would be SHIMADA, who started out in a tux, but who's act really took off here in the west when he adopted Asian garb an...

The knock on this show, from magicians, is that there is not enough magic. I thought there was plenty of mental routines and I thoroughly enjoyed the audience participa...

OK... In the original Water Torture Cell the performer is lowered into the tank with their feet shackled to the lid of the box. This was not the case with Lisa. Was their actual danger? Thursday nights are huge for the main networks. Cable...not so much. It's where you send a show to die. So to answer your question...no, it's not a good move. Sorry to be negative. I happen to love the show.

MAX,
have you considered writing an autobiography so that we can get first hand life stories instead of other opinions about you when you've gone.
(Just don't leave before June 27th, I plan on seeing your show then.)
What does this have to do with Vernon?

When I was 14 (and a budding magician) my dad took me to see Andre Kole. What a night! The illusions I witnessed filled me with wonder. Especially his levitation. Just wondering if anyone has seen Max's new show and if it would be worth seeing. I'm going to be in the LA area in June and am thinking about attending the show.
