Re: Philippe Petit performs a Coin illusion on the Oscars
Although not loosley associated with Magic as NPH or Jason Alexander, I think Martin Short could do a great job too. Maybe not as relevent as he used to be, but he has a wide range of possibilities.

Re: Philippe Petit performs a Coin illusion on the Oscars
Watching the Oscars last night got me to thinking that Neil Patrick Harris would be a GREAT host for the annual show. He is very multi-talented, does not take himself (or Hollywood) too seriosly, is widely well received, etc. Also, what about Jason Alexander as a possible host. Great comic, can sign...

As Brian noted above, don't be thrown off when you hit your applause cue and you hear nothing but silence. Don't take it personally, it is what it is....an audition. Also, don't start to freak if they cut you off half-way through you set. Once they have seen enough (either good or bad) they've seen ...

Well if Dai Vernon and Jim Riser say it, enough said. I've always just heard the thought that a magician should come on stage and do a nice, strong solo effect to establish him or herself before "going into the crowd". Same with the finale, that you should end your show solo on stage to re...

Without necessarily giving away the method, would you say that this is (1) fairly impromtu and workable and (2) something you would use, ie, worth the money to spend on the DVD? Thanks for the input.

Yet another ethics problem. I actually invented this trick back in the 60's but, instead of having the spectators close their eyes, I would just turn around for a second. Now, with one little change, this guy calls it a "new" trick. Oh, the nerve.

Re: Most engaging presentations
A very engaging presentation is the award winning close-up act of Johnny Ace Palmer. I've seen the act many times and now just enjoy the look of wonder on the spectator's faces as Johnny makes them all feel that they are the most special people in the room....which, IMHO, is "real" magic.
