Nick Cave and magic
The singer Nick Cave wrote about magic in his newsletter today. https://www.theredhandfiles.com/do-you-enjoy-magic/ I know most people in this forum are die hards, but he does touch upon something interesting in magic, which is how for many of us it flickers in and out of our passions. I did it as a...

Re: ShareMagic: Live event on April 5th
I missed DaOrtiz, unfortunately -- hoping the download becomes available soon. And because I was multi-tasking, I missed the beginning of Danny Garcia's closer, but I saw the explanation, and it is indeed quite genius. A perfect trick for all of us to make and learn as we're having to be on Zoom cal...

Anyone else having problems accessing issues on the desktop? I can read back issues on my tablet, but when I click on a cover on the desktop (Mac, using both Chrome and Safari), I'm redirected every time to the account page.

It's written in an irreverent, satirical and sometimes happily obscene style, but I wouldn't call the blog satirical in intent. Larry seems to be a pretty dedicated cardman and his comments on card magic and books on card magic I always find worth reading.

Is anyone here of the opinion that some of Andy's anecdotes concerning his one-off performances may be apocryphal? I have always thought that. In fact, for a long time, when I first started reading his blog, I took it as almost entirely satiric. It took a little while to figure out its larger purpo...

Listening to the violin is ultimately listening to the violin. Looking at a painting is ultimately just looking at a painting. Reading a novel is ultimately just reading a novel. I liked Andy's latest post a lot too, but a small quibble with the above, which is that there are experimenters in all a...

The one thing I bought -- which, admittedly, is sitting here in its bag waiting for me to assemble and try it -- that might fit the bill is "Little Door." I really smiled when I watched the demo, and from looking at the gimmick and watching the explanation, the routining seems solid.

Before the new issue arrives with John Guastaferro's first column, I thought I'd just say thanks here to Andi Gladwin for what, I thought, was a really good run editing Magicana. Hermetic Press was sold to Penguin Magic. Minch continues to write books, and these will be published and marketed through Penguin. As Ristiharju mentioned, the effect is taught on Josh's Unreal DVD set. I just spoke with Josh, who has been a friend of mine since he was 8 years old. He stated that his method doesn't involve an index or pre-show work. Well, then, to paraphrase Penn, there's only one explanation... I was fooled. ...

I downloaded the latest update to the iOS app and the offline problem is still there. Bill, I'm leaning more to your theory because the percentage counter quickly races up to 100%; it's clear that that material is not being downloaded.

Overall, the whole Penguin lecture thing is very good. And, yes, if there are at least two people out of the coming five you'd like to see, the $50 monthly pass is worth it. I've done this several times, the result being that I have a ton of unviewed ones on my hard drive. The thing is, the Penguin ...
