Re: Speaking of Masters of Illusion ...

Did anyone watch last night's episode "Quick Change" on Masters of Illusion? If so, what did you think of Ed Alonzo's act? I don't want to give it away in case you still plan on watching it. I was a little bothered by the first part, though, and was curious as to what others thought about ...

I've got to agree with Waterman. Dave's Killer Magic Shop is a great place to buy magic and just hang out. I travel to Portland quite often, and I make it a point to stop by his store. There are usually quite a few local magicians hanging out there, too.

I second the Hollywood Hills Hotel. Besides all the free snacks, you also get breakfast at the Magic Castle Hotel. I stayed there in 2009, and it was a pleasant stay. I went there again in September 2012, and it seemed that the rooms had either been renovated, or the room I stayed in was in better c...

The Key of The Chrononaut by Master Payne

If any of you are looking to add great-looking props and a great effect to your Steampunk act, you should check out Master Payne's The Key of the Chrononaut. I've seen Payne perform this, and he has a nice storyline and presentation that goes with this effect. The props look really cool, too. The bu...

I found the DVD not only helpful, but fun to watch. I wasn't able to attend the Genii Bash, but several of my friends were able to go, and the Giobbi lecture was one of the highlights for them. To be able to see what they saw was quite fun, and it was great not seeing the decks switches.

These days, comics are expensive IN the US! Back in the old days, I can remember buying Superman for 12 cents. Now they are all $2.99 or $3.99. MAD is $5.99 (cheap). Yikes!
