This is indeed too bad. I grew up in Utah and David was one of the good guys at the Salt Lake City magic clubs, and helped me get started. In addition to his work on M-U-M, he co-published the bizarre magazine Oracle. See https://geniimagazine.com/wiki/index.php?title=Oracle

Also available at Target, which I believe had an exclusive on it for a while. Amazon lists it, but they're overcharging. ($50 vs $30). Richard, the reviews at Target.com (nearly 800 of them) may help you decide if it's for you.

I completely agree, the Nelms book is an often overlooked gem. During lockdown, I revisited it after decades of neglect, and really enjoyed it. I stashed some notes about my reading here: https://gordon.typepad.com/magic/2021/04/nelms-overlooked-gem.html

There is no rhyme, reason, or logic to anything the TSA does. All you can do is hope for the best. I've had decks of cards inspected ("looks like plastic explosive on X-ray"), ropes removed and unravelled (without explanation), and a metal gimmick for the blister effect in the shape of pla...

Re: Characters on "Chinese" Coins
I have seen this discussed before. My feeling is this... The characters on the coin used for magic do not have to say anything really. If it does, it should be something clean and innocent. Unless your audience happens to speak Chinese, in which case it will be an unavoidable distraction. (Just as ...

As a professional writer, I agree that the only way to help avoid these mistakes is to hire a professional editor.
