Re: Fascinating Concepts

Joe, I absolutely love your premise with the secret radio broadcasts for at least two reasons: 1. It makes it appear the magician is doing nothing--that some outside force is controlling the outcome. 2. It's so unsettling: I knew about these broadcasts from my time as a shortwave radio enthusiast an...

I've had the pleasure of reviewing some of the material that's near and dear to my heart (fishing for cards) and there is a lot to learn from here. I've also had the pleasure of seeing Johnny perform for real people on several occasions and he killed every time. Books like this are invaluable, even ...

Purchasers of the Bammo Tarodiction Toolbox: I'm working out a way to do this trick with those methods.

And of course, the Bammo method will allow the spectator to shuffle the deck before the trick starts, this making it completely impossible.

Stay tuned.

Re: Paul Gertner's Account of "Fool Us"

There is an easy way to do this trick with Faro shuffles. First, add marks to tell you where to cut for each shuffle (there are already so many marks on the deck a few more won't be noticed). Second, if you can find it, buy some Cashmere Bouquet soap and run the soap bar around the edges of each car...

I first saw Reveen when I was about 14. He was doing his hypnotic show in Quebec. I lived next door in Ontario where, at the time, so-called stage hypnotism was illegal, but it was legal in Quebec. I still remember that show: it was so dramatic. At one point Reveen said something like, "What if...

I saw Reveen do the Knight's Tour several times. It was fantastic. He used this giant vertical chessboard with hinged panels and as each move was done an assistant would flip the panel. As the panels flipped they formed an image of a chess piece. Reveen would start out slow, then increase the speed,...

Nah, I recognized her--that's Madam Babina Sabina, the Gypsy Enchantress. She does an act with a crystal ball, a deck of cards and a baboon. The baboon deals poker hands, then, when it gets really amped up, eats the deck and swallows the crystal ball.

I just thought of a plot/title for a thriller:

Someone Is Collecting The Great Collectors of Magic.

They wouldn't let him have what they had--so he collected them.
