Re: AGT betting odds - Who will win?
Is it out of the question that any of them-but I am especially thinking of Derek Hughes-intentionally tanked in the finals? We know about the unpopular "management contact" the winners are bound to, and the money "over 40 years" ain't what it seems. So, get the maximum exposure, ...

Interesting, isn't it, that all the initial hubbub and controversy around discussing RS effects has been lost amid all the discussion around their business practices. I am a techie and a geek. I have my music collection backed up in the cloud. I have purchased maybe 5 e-books, even though as a famil...

Neither... but (and being careful not to give too much away) it is fairly prominent on a gimmick that is specifically designed to look like a real-world counterpart... and is in the hands of the layman for long enough to be noticed.
Or perhaps I hang out with grammar nerds way too much.

Props to Dittleman on America's Got Talent. Dont know if he will make it to the next round, but I hope so. The dude managed to do what sooooo many others have not - gotten a TON of mileage out of the simplest of tricks, all without a contrived, tear-jerker backstory. Awesome indeed. And I am not bei...

I agree with most of the above. My only point of comparison is 4 Magic Live! events I've attended, and some things compared favorably, and some not so much. - I LOVED LOVED LOVED being at the Golden Nugget. At the South Point and/or Orleans, I felt trapped. Being able to walk 50 yards to a bunch of ...

I'll take a shot, Fred. Not a Las Vegan, but a fairly frequent visitor. 1. Best and most economic ways from airport to the Golden Nugget downtown. Well, I always rent a car, cause Im a wanderer. Downtown is at the far end of Vegas from McCarran, so cabs will be pricey, but dead simple. There are air...

One vote FOR variety acts. One thing conventions can do is expose us to things outside our comfort zone (" I'm in a groove now, or is it a rut?"). So bring on the jugglers. Or the stand up comics. Hell, even the geeks and the carnys.

I've enjoyed this discussion. I heard an interesting comment on the nature of comedy - that being, its the only art form that a critic can simply "will" out of existence. A poorly sung song, is, after all, still music. A theater critic can savage a play, but at the end of the day, it may b...

Watched the other night, and have been struggling with my reaction. I really wanted to like this, but I just..... really didn't. It was well made, and people like McBride and Lance came off really well. It's obvious what makes them pros (but once you start watching Jeff's "jazz hands," you...

I had the same reaction - dude killed it dead. I think most on the board would be familiar with him, but i've always loved the Marilyn Manson homage, and the fact he doesn't break character. Only one time (and don't remember if it was also featured 2 years ago) which was during Metamorphosis. Still uses the smoke instead of the cloth, but there is also a line of flame lengthwise across the stage further obscuring things.

I first saw the show just after its formal opening, and as most here know, it was uncomfortable to watch. Bloated, pretentious, arrogant, and not amazing or funny. Applause cues were met with awkward silences. It was bad. Really bad. Most blamed it on two very control-freaky entities clashing over a...

Now THAT was a great trick! Not the sawing into halves (which was also fun) but the fact that, according to Penn's twitter, it was recorded that afternoon and made to "look live." Other than an early shot with the 3 judges' heads rather obviously overlayed in the foreground, it was really ...

No magic indeed, but there was one thing that would make magic fans who bristled at the treatment Josh Jay received at the hands of Kathy Lee Gifford recently pretty happy - a sketch that lampooned KLG pretty relentlessly. Funny, too.
