Shame on me for not mentioning the Potter&Potter Nielsen books. Today (well, yesterday, it's after midnight) is my birthday, and one of my presents was the McCord book. I mentioned it to my wife during the week, and Amazon brought it this afternoon while my son and I were at the movies (Wonder W...

Todd Karr's latest "The Eye" column in Genii confirms that this is indeed Suzy Wandas. And that it was not filmed at the Ambassador, but at the Lido Room in the Knickerbocker Hotel.

All this reminds me of an off topic question I had a lot of fun with when I was young. Call it a puzzle if you like. There were two brothers who joined the army. They were both born on the same day on the same month and the same year within a very short time of each other. Minutes in fact. They had...

Ever since Busby died, I've been wondering what would become of his book collection, which had a number of very interesting items (although some apparently were of dubious provenance . . .). I even tracked down his widow's work phone number to ask about it, but never got as far as making the call. P...

I think it's more of a sad chapter in a story which hasn't ended yet. You are still with us, making art, teaching, writing. Spider Robinson said "Shared pain lessens, shared joy increases." I'm looking for a happy ending (and hoping that ending doesn't come for a long time).

Max Maven identified and used a natural forcing book in his Videomind tapes and DVDs (Lawrence Sanders, Third Deadly Sin.)

I want to say there was a discussion on this subject in the old Electronic Grymoire discussion group years ago, but I don't have it archived and don't remember the details.

You hooked it into your hand? Wow. This reminds me of the trick by Al Jaffee in The Mad Book of Magic . You hollow out the inside of a coin, put a drop of nitroglycerin in it, and seal it back up. When it's laying on a table, you slap it. The explosion makes points of metal stick upwards, like a Kar...
