Re: Magician accused of sexual assault

Wasn't dueling still legal at that time? Not in New York, anyway. The famous and much earlier Burr-Hamilton duel of 1804 was illegal at the time in both NY and NJ due to anti-duelling statutes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burr%E2%80%93Hamilton_duel I'm pretty sure it was legal, and it may be stil...

Re: The Future of Magic Collectibles?

To me, the difference between collecting and hoarding is pretty simple to define. Collecting is focused on items in a specific field. Hoarding is an accumulation of random items with no rhyme or reason.

Re: Houdini and Doyle TV show in Canada

The early scene with Houdini in the Chinese Water Torture Cell was very well done. Capturing the audience nearly in hysterics, which has always been missed with other Houdini productions, was a big plus. And it didn't end with Houdini revealed to be his own axe-wielding assistant, which was a relie...

Contact George Shindler or the Parent Assembly. I'm almost positive they own the plot. I'm pretty sure the cemetery has changed hands and you might be able to find their number.

As the Broken Wand Ceremony has ceased over the past few years, it's lost most of its' luster. IMHO

Re: Incredible Auction Next Week!

Be that as it may, I placed a $400 bid for a chop cup that went nowhere. You have to have at least a grand in your pocket before entering a magic auction these days. Any amount lower than that is chicken feed. And that's just for small props and books. For lithographs you'll need a lot more. Most a...

I don't think that's the way it works. I've bid by phone at auction. When I matched the max of an absentee bid, I had to bid one more time to win the item.

Years back, some of the magic guys in the City, had cell phone blocking devices they used to carry around. You could probably call Ebay to address this. With the buyer trying to avoid Ebay fees, they could look into his background for other occurrences. With the negative feedback, I don't know the duration but you you will go back to 100% overtime. If you're on Ebay, sooner or later you have to encounter...

Re: McCord Museum Acquires "Significant" Collection

The price of magic collectibles did go up. When 1,000 pieces of better material is taken out of a finite market, never to return, the price goes up. IMHO As for the purchase and donation of the collection, that will be revealed sooner later. Our circle is small and I would guess the details will sur...
