Re: Karl Fulves has died
I had a lively correspondence with Karl and wrote several articles for his magazines, he used my "Three Card Catch" as the cover picture for his Dover edition of Self Working Card Tricks. Every year at Christmas I sent him my Escorial manuscript, to which he sent me valuable comments. I mi...

I have just found two trick descriptions from a letter from Nick Trost to me on January 5, 2004, relating to this 4 by 4 square of 16 cards. In 1991 Nick Trost published the QUADRAPLEX effect. Nick wrote that the basic principle goes back to Shigeo Takagi, who uses it in one of his videos. Nick sent...

Re: What card principle is this?
I would say, it is a cyclic set-up with the last card in the stack goes back to the first card. It is a closed cycle. Interesting is that, if you count off any number of cards into a pile, and riffle shuffle this pile into the remaining packet, then any four cards right next to each other are a 1, 2...

Most two-card transpostions are inspired by the Scarne effect done in the old Schaffer beer commercial.
